The Power of Breath! 90 Minute Workshop

Pranayama is the ancient practice of controlling the breath through specific breathing techniques. Prana means “life-force” and we will explore through various breathing practices how we can control, enhance and shift the prana or energy in the body. A regular pranayama practice can increase lung capacity, vitality and overall well-being. In this workshop, Carrie White, Yoga Theorem instructor and beautiful soul, will lead us through the following:

• Various pranayama practices including nadi shodhana (Alternate Nostril Breathing), ujjayi (Ocean Breath), kapalabhati (Breath of Fire), deerga swasm (3 Part Breath), brahmari (Bee Breathing), and Kumbhaka (Breath Retention).

• Learn and practice Conscious Connected Breathing technique.

• Understanding the energetic calming, balancing or energizing effects of pranayama practices.

• Incorporating Pranayama into an asana (Yoga Posture) practice and meditation.

On Friday, Februrary 15 at 6:15 pm, Yoga Theorem (412 South Broadway, Edmond. OK) is bringing you Puppy Love and Yoga. This super fun event will feature a relaxed yoga class, all the four-legged love you can handle, and a “sweets and treats” mingle after.

There is no charge for the class but donations ($5 min) are most certainly welcomed and benefit Bella SPCA and the animals of our community.

Beyond Basics Workshop Series

Are you interested in yoga, but find the thought of attending even a 'basics' class to be intimidating? Do you have an existing practice, but feel like the foundational knowledge of the practice is missing? Then this is for YOU!

In this four week series, we will start with gentle yoga and work our way up to standing and introductory balancing postures. We will talk about what to expect when you come to class, the benefits of the practice, what props we use and when to use them, and how to do beginner postures. This series will serve as a foundation to any beginner practice as well as a reminder of the fundamentals of yoga for experienced students.

Students should wear comfortable clothing and bring water and a mat if you have one. If you don’t have a mat, we have plenty you can borrow. All other props will be provided.
